SOA Based Distributed Solution for Major Telecommunications Firm
Overview
The client provides telecommunication services to its large customer base. The services are both front-end as well as back-end oriented and the two are highly integrated from both operation as well as technology perspective. Helpdesk calls are routed in an integrated fashion to various back-end functions such as new accounts, billings, service packages, etc.
Challenge
- Process high volume support calls through a decentralized solution framework
- Maintain high availability without compromising with superior performance
- Build a communication channel framework that is scalable and extendible
- Convert existing foundational components to services based on SOA principles
Solution
We found our frameworks providing parallel processing, combined with batch processing capabilities extremely useful to enhance the performance to a level that avoided huge costs that would have otherwise been required to support the high volume processing in a given short time period. The solution required working with the R&D team of the J2EE environment vendor BEA and along the process; some of the core components were tweaked to meet the non-functional needs.

TeluguOne.com Portal
Overview
TeluguOne.com is a regional web portal with personalization features similar to my.yahoo.com. The portal is targeted to a region in India that has massive representation in Asian Indian population in USA. The portal is mostly based on regional language and script called "telugu".
Challenge
Technological challenge came from the following non-functional business needs:
- Support heavy-duty content such as rich graphics and multimedia
- Maintain high performance and high availability 365x24x7
- Support at least one million hits per month
- Build the solution on highly scalable, extendible, and maintainable framework
- Build a foundational framework based on reusable SOA (Service Oriented Architecture)
Solution
We utilized our proprietary J2EE frameworks that are based on J2EE OPEN standards such as parallel processing and ETL components, and topped those with the portal framework layer, to meet the technological challenges. In addition, we created excellent usable interface to accommodate a variety of content that is easy to navigate and access. Personalization is achieved through creating user profiles.
